COMPANY PROFILE: Crepini
Specialty food manufacturer, Crepini, lands close to home after experiencing growing pains.
Explosive growth is every company’s dream. However, with rapid success also comes the need for increased production capabilities, additional space requirements and staff.
Family business and specialty food manufacturer, Crepini, was no stranger to rapid growth. Their unique products quickly moved them from a commissary kitchen in Westchester to a factory in Brooklyn, NY. After the launch of their new line – Egg Thins® – zero carb, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg based crepes – they had to halt additional sales as they had reached capacity for the second time in 2018. However, costs for expansion and a need to overcome a large production gap forced the Brooklyn-based manufacturing facility to find a new strategic location. The New York family needed to consider all options— including leaving their home state.
The Think Dutchess team identified a potential new site at the growing food hub at iPark 84 in Fishkill, NY. The team was committed to showing Crepini how our state, county, town and regional partners were invested in their success. Even when the company was considering moving out of state, Think Dutchess acted as the glue between Crepini and their resource partners. The idea of remaining in their home-state was appealing.
With the support of Empire State Development, Central Hudson and the Workforce Development Institute, Crepeni was able to source grants and credits which enabled the company to find a state-of-the-art facility that would triple their capacity. As a result, in November of 2019, Crepini officially opened its doors and is manufacturing at 35,000 square foot former clean room at iPark 84. When at full capacity, Crepini will produce one million crepes per day and add nearly 100 jobs to the local economy.
